Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora (British singer-songwriter) is her name. She was born Rita Sahatciu Ora in 1990 in Pristina, Kosovo, to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. Besim Sahatciu is her granddaughter. At the age of one, her family decided to relocate to the United Kingdom. Her birthplace was in West London, attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court and graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School. She started singing as a child. In 2004, she appeared in the British film Spivs. After auditioning for Eurovision The Country That needs You (BBC One), she was chosen to represent Britain in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. She eventually walked out of the contest after a couple of episodes because she believed that the stage was not set. Ora released her first music in 2007, when she was featured in the Craig David song "Awkward" which was followed by a follow-up appearance in 2008 on "Where’s Your Love" with TinchyStryder. Ora began singing in bars in London. A few days after, Ora flew to New York to meet Jay-Z, an A&R informed Roc Nation about Ora. Ora was featured in Jay-Z's 2009 video for "Young Forever" as well as "Over" from Drake. Jay-Z was attracted to Ora's talent, and was able to sign the singer to Roc Nation. In which Ora was included in a commercial for Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was a bar owner and she started her singing career from the same bar. The singer cites Gwen Stefani as a major influence in the way she conducts herself and No Doubt's "Don't Speak" (1996) as one of her favourite songs.Her video for the Tezenis song from 2016, The Silk Code, is the title of a novel which received the Locus Award for Best First Science Fiction Novel in 1999.She was seriously considered to play Iris West in Justice League (2017) before Kiersey Cymons was cast.
