Even the proof of the day she married was not important. It's difficult to discern the motives of Barbara Heck and her behavior throughout her life from the primary sources. Nevertheless she has become an hero in the early period of Methodism in North America. It is important to think about the significance of her accomplishments in relation to the legacy of her incredible cause rather than the story of her life. Barbara Heck was involved fortuitously at the time of the emergence of Methodism throughout the United States and Canada and her fame rests on the natural tendency of a highly successful movement or institution to highlight its early days in order to strengthen its traditionalism and continuity with its past.
